According to the data maintained by SteelMint, Iran has exported 1.87 MnT iron ore via bulk shipments in the Feb'19 (during 22nd Jan- 21st Feb'19) and exports have hit eleven month high.
The exports witnessed 56% rise on monthly basis in Feb'19 as against Jan'18 exports at 1.20 MnT.
On yearly basis, the exports have depicted 2% fall as compared to Feb’18 exports at 1.91 MnT.
For Apr'18-Feb'19, the exports witnessed at 13.43 MnT, down sharply by 27% against 18.31 MnT during same duration last year Apr'17-Feb'18.
Iron ore pellet exports down 67% in Feb'19
Iran's pellet export dropped to 0.05 MnT in Feb'19, down sharply by 67% as against 0.15 MnT in Jan'18. The total exports for Apr-Feb'19 recorded at 0.61 MnT. A major pellet production plant has been launched in Kerman, Iran with production capacity of 2.5 MnT p.a.
Iran’s pellet production increased 32% on yearly basis to 34.82 MnT for first ten months FY’19(Mar’21- Jan’20), as per IMIDRO reports.
Iranian exports to China up 53% M-o-M
China stood the largest importer of Iranian iron ore in Feb'19 at 1.83 MnT, (about 98% of total export share) up 53% on monthly basis as against 1.20 MnT a month ago. The remaining 2% share of exports was contributed by Indonesia at 0.03 MnT.
Iran iron ore concentrate exports doubled in Apr-Jan'19
As per IRICA ( Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration), Iran’s iron ore concentrate exports increased to almost twice on yearly basis at 5.55 MnT for the ten months of current Iranian year (21’Mar-21’Jan).
As per Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), iron ore concentrate production in its recently released production figure for the ten month (Mar 21- Jan 20,2019) depicted at 38.16 MnT , up 21% on yearly basis.
As per IRNA reports, Iran is to increase exports duty on iron ore from next Iranian year (21 Mar’19). The export duty on non-concentrated iron ore is 5% now and will be increased to 8%.
According to Ardeshir Saad Muhammadi, Deputy Director IMIDRO Mining and Mining Industries Development, Iran's crude steel capacity is likely to be expanded and it currently stands at 32 MnT p.a. Furthermore Iran plans to increase its crude steel capacity to 55 MnT p.a by 2025. Rising crude steel capacities will further escalate iron ore demand in country.
