China has taken fewer shipments of iron ore from Iran over August and September, according to Refinitiv Eikon data, as additional export tariffs due to be imposed by Tehran have dampened risk appetites in the world’s biggest steelmaker.
Iran’s major steel producers exported 2.241 million tons of steel during the four-month period from March 21 to July 22, IRNA reported.
The output of Iran’s 10 major steel ingot producers reached 6.863 million tons in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-July 22), indicating a four percent increase compared to last year’s same period.
Iran’s steel exports has witnessed a Y-o-Y decline of 12% during the first four months of the current fiscal year (March 21-July 22), the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported. Iranian major steel makers exported 2.24 MnT of steel in these four Iranian months.
In brief: Exports of Iranian iron ore have remained steady in the face of escalating tensions in the Mideast Gulf and there are few signs that China, which receives about 95pc of these volumes, will fall in line with US government sanctions.
Iranian Central Plateau Iron Ore Mines Complex, in the central Iranian province of Yazd, intends to implement two projects aimed at processing tailings in the complex.
