Iran, Oman to Expand Airport Cooperation

An Iranian airline and an Omani holding company signed an agreemnt to increase bilateral relations and joint cooperation in airport services.

Kish Airlines, which operates in Iran’s Southern tourist hub and free trade zone of Kish Island, and the Oman Holding signed an agreement on Sunday to broaden airport services cooperation.

During a visit to Oman by the Iranian airline’s caretaker, Farzaneh Sharafbafi, the two sides agreed to increase their cooperation in airport services in a bid to facilitate handling the tourists visiting the two countries.

In another meeting between Sharafbafi and Iran's Ambassador to Muscat Mohammad Reza Nouri Shahroudi, they discussed the ways to boost aviation cooperation between Iran and Oman.

Implementation of cargo flights for strengthening activities of the Iranian industrial craftsmen was also discussed during the meeting.

The Iranian ambassador highlighted the important role of the country's air fleet in developing political, cultural and trade relations between the two countries, and stressed establishing new routes and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided to review the new flight routes through Kish Air Airport's Business and Airport Services Department to enhance the satisfaction of Kish Airline passengers.

Back in February, Iranian and Omani officials celebrated establishment of direct flights between Iran’s Persian Gulf Island of Qeshm and Omani capital city of Muscat.

The two-way direct flight between Qeshm and Muscat is to be conducted twice a week.

The opening ceremony was held on February 05 in presence of Director General of Qeshm Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and Nouri Shahroudi.

Also a number of with Omani local officials were present in the event.

The Iranian ambassador said the new flight routes will increase connections between the two sides and lead to expansion of relation and cooperation.

In December, Director General of Hormuzgan Industry, Mine and Trade Department Khalil Qassemi announced that Iran and Oman have launched a direct sea route between their strategic ports which would facilitate trade exchanges between the two countries.
