Iran’s Gas Production to Hit All-Time High in Weeks

Iran is going to set a new high record in the production of natural gas within the next few weeks, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh announced.

In comments on Monday, the Iranian oil minister said the country’s daily gas output is going to surpass one billion cubic meters before the beginning of the new Iranian year, March 20.

Zanganeh said the new record high will be reached as soon as all of the platforms in the 27 phases of South Pars gas field are installed.

Earlier on Monday, Iranian technicians installed the third platform of Phase 13 of the South Pars gas field after the megastructure was manufactured by a domestic company in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

The new structure’s daily capacity of gas extraction is 14.2 million cubic meters. The fourth platform of Phase 13 is also going to be installed within the next few days.

In April 2017, the South Pars Phases 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 were inaugurated by Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani.

The gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belongs to Iran.

It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
