Payam Airport Suspends Cargo Flights

Payam International Airport, located in the city of Karaj, 35 km from Tehran, has temporarily suspended international cargo flight services to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, says Payam Special Economic Zone’s Managing Director Sanagou-Motlaq.

Payam Airport was established in 1997 as a cargo-only airport. The increasing population of Alborz Province prompted authorities to devise plans to develop a passenger terminal for the airport, IRNA reported.

The airport is located in the heart of Payam Special Economic Zone, which is owned by Iran’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology.
