ERG and the GOSH arrange a visit of a well-known UK oncologist Dr Michalski to Astana

Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), a leading diversified natural resources producer, in cooperation with the London-based Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), continues to implement a five-year scholarship programme for Kazakhstani doctors. As a part of this programme, the country's paediatricians get assistance in developing their expertise in cancer diagnosis and advanced medical treatment. ERG has arranged special workshops for the young medical staff with a famous UK oncologist, Dr Antony Julian Michalski, on November 16-20th.


Being a responsible corporate citizen, ERG has been providing medical services in Kazakhstan and other countries of its operational presence for many years. The project with the Great Ormond Street Hospital to support professional trainings for Kazakhstani doctors in the UK health care institutions was launched in 2011. The Group has allocated around GBP 280k for the scholarship programme at GOSH.
Dr Michalski, who is a leading oncologist at GOSH, Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and member of the International Society for Paediatric Oncology, gave lectures on the development of neuro-oncology in the UK at the venue of the 7th International Conference of Paediatric Neurologists of Central Asia held in Astana from November 16 through November 20. The British expert described new methods of brain tumour diagnosis aimed at children and infants, such as molecular biology and treatment of medulloblastomas, which have not yet been adopted in Kazakhstan.
'Representing the Republic of Kazakhstan, many doctors have visited London as part of the 5-year scholarship programme launched by ERG and GOSH,' said Dr. Michalski. 'I know some of these doctors personally. They can now provide the highest-possible medical service to a large number of children who have major problems with their health. Eurasian Resources Group, with whom we have been working closely all these years, continuously supports the health care system by enabling specialists from various countries to share their experience. The company is also famous for its big efforts to provide funding for renovation and equipment of hospitals across Kazakhstan.

Investment Projects

Since the beginning of its operations in Kazakhstan, ERG has invested over US$ 11 billion in development of existing production operations and establishment of the new ones.

Projects forming part of the State Programme on Forced Industrial-Innovative Development of Kazakhstan (SPFIID)

From 2010 through 2014, investments in production of the Eurasian Group in Kazakhstan exceeded US$ 5 billion, including US$ 2.5 billion invested in 12 SPFIID projects.

Overall, as part of the first industrial five-year plan, the Group’s contribution amounted to 13% of total investments in the country.

Provision of Housing ;

Before the end of 2017, the Eurasian Group plans to build housing with a total area of about 90/000 square meters for its employees in four regions of Kazakhstan.
